Ok, so this cannot be a bad thing! I understand those pro-gay marriage advocates who criticize this, but I happen to think it's a great thing. During the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s, African-Americans sat on buses and drank from White-Only drinking fountains, and performed other acts of peaceful civil disobedience. They were angry about being treated as second-class citizens and wanted change. Likewise, during the Women's Suffrage Movement, women chained themselves to goverment buildings and went on hunger strikes, and had parades. They were angry about being treated as second-class citizens. Can we blame the gay and lesbian community, as well as the various government officials, for doing the same? The marriages being performed in San Francisco and New Paltz, and anywhere else, are peaceful acts of civil disobedience. They are defying an unjust double standard. Good for them! **May I also point out that this is a far better way to get your point across than waging an unjust war!

Good lord, what a week! First off, a big congrats to the World Champion New England Patriots! They rocked the house, allowing us Boston fans to actually feel like Boston fans for a scant few minutes, and then elevating us to our (now) accustomed levels of jubilation! Woo! Then, on Monday, I actually caught the motorcade on my way home from work- following the four buses all the way back to Foxboro... awesome. Yesterday I was fortunate enough to be able to join the million and a half fans to watch the parade- getting myself an up close view of most of the players and the Lombardi trophy. And today, the SJC ruled against civil unions, declaring "The history of our nation has demonstrated that separate is seldom, if ever, equal." And that civil unions would be "unconstitutional, inferior, and discriminatory status for same-sex couples." Wonderful news for all those same-sex couples out there in Mass. I can't wait for May! It'll be beautiful to see all those couples out there getting marriage licenses and getting legally married. And there will be nothing Bushie and his cronies can do about it. *cackle*
