Very hectic (but good) Thanksgiving. Did both families... went to RI for Dave's family on Thursday... 14 people at the dinner table! Wow! Friday afternoon (after dealing with an extreme sinus migraine!) we drove on up to Maine for my family's dinner. After dinner with my folks, we raced off to a sold-out Bob Dylan concert- which was excellent! I saw good ole Bob a couple of years ago, and had really enjoyed it. This show blew me away. He did two encores (which included my personal favorite All Along the Watchtower. After the first encore finished and the band herded offstage, we watched them do a quick huddle- and they came back on for an excellent Knocking on Heaven's Door!! Very good show. Bob Dylan loves Portland ME! We got back in the area on Sunday. In the few days that we've been back, I have gotten some baking done (with the new Breadman!) and some juicing done (with the new Juiceman!). Dave and I also decided to go all out and buy a new bed, which was delivered this afternoon. After sleeping on a 40 year old mattress for the past 3 or so years...it'll be a welcome change to sleep in comfort! Dave and I also celebrated our 4 year anniversary on Thanksgiving... which deserves a big cheer! *grin*

Who would have thought that I would actually miss Jerry "The King" Lawler, and that I would be happy to see him return? But boy was I ever! *grin*

Wow... Dave and I stayed up Saturday night/Sunday morning to catch the meteor shower. We had a sort of an obstructed view as we were laying down in our parking lot... but we still got quite a show! We were out for about 2 hours (from 2-4am). I wish we could have stayed out longer, but I was falling asleep in the parking lot. I saw the biggest meteor I have ever seen... it left a trail that lasted for at least a couple of minutes. It was unreal. Wow!

And to move on to more exciting stuff... for those of you who don't know... Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone opened in more than 4000 theatres nationwide yesterday, and was expected to have a bigger opening than Star Wars, Episode I: The Phantom Menace. We'll see. As for me... I LOVED it. I thought it was really fantastic. It was very true to the book, which I must assume was extremely difficult. It was also very long... I went to the 10:40pm show last night, and got out at 1:15 this morning! And the second Star Wars II trailer ran before the movie, which looked so much better than the first trailer, and the first movie at that!

I wasn't feeling sorry for myself... I was commenting that those who still do have their grandparents should not take them for granted, like I did for so many years. Not every comment I make is directly aimed towards you, my dear boy. That was (as was aptly named) my Thought of the Day... inspired by your very thought -provoking words. *grin* You're in the same boat as me... lost in a grandparent-less sea... adrift without advice from those who knew much more than we and who did not live long enough to share it with us, when we were old enough to appreciate it...or (in my case) them...

Excellent article on the subject...

Hmmm... I wonder who win win the Cy Young award this year? Of course the American will go to The Rocket. And he deserves it... what with Pedro being out of commission. The National is up in the air... although by stats alone it belongs to The Big Unit. And he rightly deserves it. He threw 11 less strikeouts than Nolan Ryan (who holds the record)... with 76 less innings in which to do it. Amazing season this year... and topped off by that World Series ring. You don't have to be a D-Backs fan to know that they truly deserved to win the World Series this year. Ok, ok, back to my boycott...

Well, I finally sniped out a win on a Breadman... just waiting on the Juiceman now. Anywho- just to clear things right up, you don't have to like the Diamondbacks to hate the Yankees... in fact, you just have to be sane. And as long as Baltimore wins tonight, I will have a 13-2 week in my football pool. Wow. Possibly my best week ever. And my final thought of the day... how nice it must be to actually have grandparents to visit... take advantage of it as much as possible.

Why can't I get a break? I have been bidding on a bread machine and a Juiceman Jr juicer on eBay for the past week and a half, and I keep getting sniped! Man! I mean, I understand snipers, and I don't think sniping is evil... but why do they have to keep sniping me? I know, I know...buck up little soldier... There are more important things in the world than to keep losing out on bread machines and juicers! In other news... just finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for the second time to get ready for the movie!!!!!! It comes out in a week! I'm quite excited! Woo hoo!

Ok, at first I was upset by the Republican win in NYC. Then, I thought it served the Dem party right after all the in-fighting and bickering. Now, the more I learn about Mike Bloomberg, the happier I am that he won! First of all, he's a liberal Democrat himself...but decided to run as a Republican. He's admitted to smoking (and liking) pot, drinking lots of beer (his favorite drink!) and being a woman-chaser (not that that's an admirable quality- but he admitted it!). From MSNBC (and Eric Alterman specifically)...Michael Bloomberg, the Republican/liberal Democrat, ran almost exclusively on the endorsement of Mayor Rudy Giuliani, another liberal Republican, who emerged from the terrorist attacks as a kind of national father figure. Prior to the tragedy, Giuliani had actually become a bit of a joke because, among other things, he dumped his wife in public to be with his mistress and informed said wife via national television cameras. Now he’s living with a couple of gay guys. Meanwhile, many Black and Latino Democrats in New York stayed home because their leaders preferred, ultimately, to deal with a Republican mayor as top dogs than with a Democratic mayor as just one part of a winning coalition. And my favorite thing about Mike Bloomberg? He's a Red Sox fan! Way to go NYC voters!! *grin*

And now that the World Series furor has died down a bit...wow... I would agree with this article 100%! When will baseball learn the lessons from basketball and football? They may never learn... and I intend to boycott it until they do!

Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson for President (not to mention Luis Gonzalez for Sec of State and Tony Womack for Speaker of the House)! Oh hell yeah!!!!! What have I been saying the whole time? GO D-BACKS!!! This has got to have been the best World Series ever. Seven games... down to the bottom of the ninth, 1 out, and bases loaded. Wow... wow... I still can't believe it...

Wow... it was like deja vu all over again! I went to see Noises Off at the Brooks Atkinson last night. It was fabulous. Patti LuPone and Peter Gallagher were great. We waited at the stage door for autographs... we saw Mike Ditka on his way into the China Club (and very possibly Lenny Kravitz)... anyway, they (the cast) were all having a party to celebrate their rave reviews, so they stuck their heads out the window and yelled down to us that they would be down in a few minutes. We waited a good hour, I think, but they were worth it. Patti came down and was most gracious, signing autographs and hugging everyone. Peter Gallagher came down (I think perhaps he celebrated the reviews a little too well)... he hugged, shook hands, posed for pictures, signed autographs, sang for my friend Tom (who shares a last name with Mr. Gallagher), asked us where we were from, asked what college we went to, blessed us, and waved g'bye as we left. It was fun fun fun! And then, in the middle of Times Square, we saw that the D-Backs had TROUNCED the Yanks, 15-2! Woo hoo! I got home at 3:15 am, only to get up at 8am and go to work. Yea!
